Aynouk Tan (1982) observes fashion from an anthropological point of view. As a journalist, curator and art- director she discusses how the clothes we wear constitutes our identity and perceptions. In her renowned column ’Fashion according to Aynouk Tan’ in the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad she weekly dressed herself in a different outfit to physically address these themes. Tan is also employed as a trend analyst and strategist for different companies and fashion designers. She curated multiple exhibitions and frequently lectures at (inter)national art academies and universities. As a commission member for Amsterdam Fund for the Arts she provides grants to a multitude of cultural organizations and designers in order to stimulate innovation and foster quality.
